3072: Newel Post Attachment Kit

The 3072 newel post attachment kit has everything you need to anchor newel posts to floors and steps. This newel post installation kit includes a guide on how to install newel posts, as well as a template to drill a hole for the newel screw.

The 3072 newel post hardware includes a black metal backing plate and a long screw that threads into the post. You will need a ⅞-inch drill bit and a Phillips head bit to install the plate and mounting screw. A drill level is recommended to drill a straight hole for the mounting screw. This is important, as a screw mounted at a slight angle can make the newel post lean once installed.
